Well - the PixInsight forum has always been a minefield. Just mention any other astronomy or image processing software and your post gets deleted because it is against Juan's forum rules. Try to complain, and your post gets deleted, because this was also against the forum rules.
Surprisingly one day they changed the forum to an unmoderated forum and let the dogs go. Users were able to discuss anything, and the PixInsight team announced that they will not read the threads and will not engage in any discussion. Until...well until a user started a thread on his new stacking algorithm which was GPU based (something many people were expecting to be provided by the PixInsight team for a long time).
A couple of days later the forum was not reachable, then it restarted but changed completely. There is no longer a user forum, just developer forum and bug reports. No user discussion allowed. And what happens quite often: Post an issue, it is tagged as 'Not a bug', thread closed. No help provided. Users are left alone with their problems. With some luck, the solution can be found in the archives.
In the new forum rules, Juan states...
'PixInsight Forum is not a place for: Discussions about image processing topics, user support questions, and general opinion-based topics. Please look for any of the innumerable public forums on the Internet, where you'll find communities willing to assist you and glad to engage in conversations about general topics, including all kinds of criticisms, judgments, and disparaging or disrespectful opinions that we cannot tolerate in this official forum.'
This is a clear statement from Juan, how he feels about forum members who have been helping others. If you count keywords it's 1:4 good vs. evil. In his opinion, forum members mostly were criticizing, judging, disparaging, being disrespectful. If I was one of those high active members who were assisting others with hundreds of posts, I would be really pissed off. If anyone is being disrespectful - it is Juan.
